Pingdom (a service that monitors website uptime and performance) released new stats today, Twitter saw an all-time high of more than 1.2 billion tweets in January.

Here are some more interesting observations:

December 2009 was the first month Twitter processed more than one billion tweets (with 1.036 billion tweets).

Hell must have frozen over, last night Google aired a :30 second commercial during the SuperBowl. The ad was already in circulation on Youtube, and in fact was part of a series of 7 “search themed” ads. On Feb 6th Eric Schmidt announced the fact that his company had bought the spot on Twitter.
