UK’s The Sun: Page 3 delivers a brilliant parody of the Old Spice viral video phenomenon.

To mark the anniversary of the Sun’s Page 3, the UK paper launched a 30 second viral video, a homage to the brilliant Old Spice advertisement which has gotten 2 million plus views on YouTube. (as of May 23rd, 2011)

The original Old Spice “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” commercial – created by Craig Allen and Eric Kallman of Wieden + Kennedy.

The Old Spice ad stars a character who depicts the perfect male specimen, the Sun’s version shows the Page 3 girl as the female equivalent.

The viral video took 12 hours to shoot on the day of filming, plus three days of set preparation and rehearsals prior to that. There was a team of almost 20 people involved in the production. The video itself is an ambitious one, shot in one take with the actress talking to the camera throughout. She also has to switch between different items she is carrying while continuously walking through the various scenes.
